Proud...

There just isn't any other word that comes to mind. Tonight the Youth Basketball League grades 3rd thru 6th were introduced at the Varsity basketball games - Girls at half time of the girls game and Boys at half time of the boys game.

I remember right after sign up this year when J told me that we beat the sign up numbers from last year...no way, we couldn't have. But we did. And all but 2 or 3 kids were there tonight. It's a thankless job running the league, being a coach or just helping out (like so many have done since J's been gone) but seeing the smiles on every kids face tonight was thanks enough. Amazing! I wish J could have been here to stumble thru a speech like he always did or to announce the 3 teams that he was coaching...J and I didn't just manage the league, J coached half of the girls teams and believed in it. I'm not going to lie and say that I just went along with it, because I didn't. I b*tched about the time commitment, about how no one cared, about a lot of things but I too believed in what he was doing. He loved what he did, and I couldn't rain on his parade with all of my valid complaints of all of the above, it wouldn't have gotten me anywhere if I would have.

So babe, I hope you were looking down on us tonight and witnessing the program in all it's glory.
