Twenty-five days....part four

We had a lot of memory talk this weekend, LOTS of good stories....

September 4, 2010 - memory 4

L - J and I never really did a lot of camping, well unless you count the one and only time we tented in MN for the family reunion...I was pregnant and it wasn't really all that much fun for me. In more recent years, we had camped a little closer to home. Ok, A LOT closer to home, like maybe the back yard. Well, the timber behind our house is a little more accurate. It used to be a big deal every holiday weekend to drag the tents down, pick just the right spot and sit our butts on lawn chairs for the rest of the weekend...camping, but with the comforts of home near by. We'd camp with family, friends and anyone else who had a tent and wanted to hang out with us. The last time we camped 'down below' was the summer of 2008. It was Labor Day weekend. The adults didn't camp, but the kids wanted to and because they couldn't camp by themselves, that meant SOMEONE had to stay with them. That someone ended up being, mom, JE and I, without a tent (because who needed that) but on cots and a lounger. J decided, nah, he wasn't going to stay down there went up to the house only to return an hour later and announce that he would be sleeping around the fire with us, sharing MY cot. Um, it's TINY J. We'll fit...yeah, he wormed his way on that cot and slept there all night long, he even stoked the fire a few times for us so we wouldn't freeze to death. He was funny like that, he didn't want to be there, but he didn't want to be away from us girls either...even if we were only in the back yard.

E - Dad used to take me miniature golfing. (m) Didn't he take you real golfing too? (e) Yeah, a couple of times, it was boring. (m) Yeah, I think it's boring too. (e) Dad used to tell me the one with the highest score wins. (m) But he tricked you. (e) Yeah, it's really the person with the lowest score that wins. (m) What a trickster.

A - Dad used to play football with me and my 2 cousins. (m) Tackle football? (a) No, 2 hand touch. (m) Did you beat him? (a) haha, no. (m) Did you tell him you were going to play football when you got bigger? ( a) Yup, and he said that was ok. (m) Not gonna happen.

Thanks for checking in....

L
